Nurse of the Month

Tatenda was chosen to be Thornbury’s Midwife of the Month in recognition of International Day of the Midwives due to fantastic feedback from our team.

Our team spoke about how great Tatenda is and that she consistently demonstrates exceptional care and dedication to her patients.

We caught up with Tatenda on her win. Read what she had to say below.

How long have you been working with Thornbury Nursing?

“I have been working with Thornbury as a midwife since 2019.”

What do you enjoy most about your job?

“I enjoy being with women and standing up for and representing mothers regardless of background and culture.”

Was there a particular moment when you realised you wanted to be a midwife?

“I was attracted to midwifery in 2007 after I had an incredible water birth with my daughter.”

What’s one memorable moment from your time as a midwife that has stuck with you?

“One memorable time was during the COVID era when I worked tirelessly in a client’s maternity unit, and I was really welcomed and felt as part of the incredible midwives team.”

If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering midwifery, what would it be?

“One piece of advice is that passion and hard work pay off. Don’t be scared to pursue your passion. Midwifery is the best job for me, I would not trade it for anything else.”

What attracted you to join Thornbury Nursing?

“Thornbury has changed my life and my whole family for the better. Up and forward, life will never be the same again with Thornbury.”

How do you feel about being Nurse of the Month?

“I am feeling so overwhelmed with joy. Thank you, Thornbury.”
