Can I work with you part time whilst in a full-time post at my hospital?

Yes. Many Thornbury workers choose us to top up their pay and work alongside their full-time jobs.

Can I do agency work in the hospital where I am employed on a substantive or bank basis?

Sadly not. Any health professional substantively employed by a hospital will be unable to pick up agency work in the same hospital.

When will I know if an application is successful?

After you apply via our website, you will need to be screened by us. During this process, we will assess your experience and inform you whether you are successful in your application to join us. You will then be given access to our recruitment portal to complete all other elements of your recruitment journey.

Some specialist areas may be offered a short screening questionnaire. If this applies to you, you will be informed via email that your application has been successful and you will then be given access to our recruitment portal to complete all other elements of your recruitment journey.

Do you only recruit nurses?

No, we recruit nurses across many specialties, as well as ODPs, surgical first assistants, midwives and healthcare assistants.

Do you employ nurses, midwives or HCAs who have trained overseas?

We recruit all nurses, midwives and HCAs who have a minimum of 6 months recent experience working in a UK-based healthcare setting. The required experience can vary depending on your specialty.

I applied to join Thornbury previously. Is my application still valid?

If you are able to log into the recruitment portal then your account is still open. If you are unable to log in to the portal, then it is possible that we have paused your application with us. This can happen for a variety of reasons. Please call the Recruitment Team on 0345 120 5252 to discuss further. There are many elements of an application that we can transfer to a new application within 12 months.

How much experience do I need?

We require a minimum of 6 months UK-based experience for general nurses and general HCAs. The requirements for specialist nurses, specialist HCAs and midwives will vary. You can find out exactly how much experience we require by visiting our specialism pages.
