Working as a Mental Health Clinical Lead at Thornbury Community Services, I am responsible for managing our clients care and ensuring they receive high-quality bespoke care and support from our mental health nurses and support workers.

To be a great mental health nurse, I believe you should aim to work collaboratively with the client, their family and wider support networks to encourage effective relationship building and enable recovery whilst enhancing the client’s quality of life through the delivery of person-centred care.

More often than not, my working days are very varied. It keeps my role very exciting. My colleagues and I will take the client out for breakfast in the morning, and then we will usually spend a few hours, if not the full day, trying a fun activity. We always take him out for fun activities such as swimming, water parks, and walks on the beach. It’s great to witness this kind of happiness and see him grow as a person. No day is the same or boring, and that’s something I really love about my role.

I love my role as an RNLD Clinical Lead because it allows me to support our clients in the community and oversee their care delivered by our passionate healthcare professionals. By listening to our clients, we can communicate more effectively to ensure he has the best quality of life. Over the past year, our clients has visited the cinema every month. We have taught him the months of the year and that he can go to exciting and fun places. We manage any obstacle together to ensure it is an enjoyable experience. We now have a movie board in his home for all the films that come out for the year.
