Online interviews
Interview from home
Instead of travelling to a face-to-face interview, why not do a video interview at home? Your time is precious, and this could be an easier way of doing things.
You’ll simply need to answer a set of pre-recorded questions covering your nursing values and how you deal with situations that arise in clinical practice.
What are my options?
You can choose one of three online interview options when registering with the Scottish Nursing Guild:
HireVue
HireVue is a digital platform enabling applicants to answer a set of pre-recorded questions as part of their interview process. These questions are the same as those you’d expect in a real-time interview and covers your nursing values and how you deal with situations that arise in clinical practice.
What you need
All you need is an internet connection and a device that can record video, like a smart phone, tablet or web cam. The interview will take around 20 to 30 minutes in total.
This won’t be a live conversation with one of us – you’ll just record your answers to the questions and then send them to us. You can record your responses any time you like, over the course of a day or two or all in one go.
One great thing about this approach is that if you’re not happy with your answer, you can have another go. This makes the process a whole lot easier and much less nerve-wracking.
The other 2 options for online interviews are WhatsApp and Zoom. All of these are available by clicking on the Interview tile in the Thornbury Portal.
What people think of video interviews:
Get started quickly
The quicker you complete the online interview, the sooner we’ll get you up and running. In some cases we’ve been able to get candidates straight out to work after viewing their video (assuming our other requirements have been completed).
Prefer a face to face interview?
If you don’t feel confident in front of the camera you can do a face to face interview instead.
