Nursing in Wales

Thornbury Nursing Services operates in Wales, with an expert nurse-led recruitment team ready to ensure that every nurse who joins Thornbury, has the most recent and relevant experience and expertise.

Being a nursing agency in Wales, Thornbury works with NHS and private hospitals all over the country, including Bronglaid General Hospital, Glan Clywd Hospital and Glangwili General Hospital.

NHS Wales employs more than 78,000 staff which makes it Wales’ biggest employer, and since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, more nursing staff have been required, often on a temporary basis.

For nurses who live in Wales and want to join our nursing agency, Thornbury has created an insightful guide to Welsh NHS hospitals, which includes information on parking and directions.

This short guide aims to inform potential Thornbury nurses of the accessibility to some of the major hospitals in Wales, because when you register with Thornbury, there is a high likelihood of last-minute shifts becoming available all over Wales, not just in your local area. So, knowing the ins and outs of the hospitals will be useful.

Below you will find helpful information for the some of the major hospitals in Wales:

Glangwili General Hospital

There is an easy to access car park on-site, and a detailed map of the hospital grounds can be found here. The nearest bus station to Glangwili General hospital is Carmarthen Bus Station and the nearest train station is Carmarthen railway station. When using these services to get from the stations to the hospital, it could be useful to keep in mind PJ taxis who are based in Carmarthen.

Morriston Hospital

Based in Swansea, the Morriston Hospital has a multi-storey car park as well as surface car parks across the hospital grounds. There is no charge for parking, and with plenty of space available, it is very likely you will be able to secure a space upon on arrival. To plan your journey to the hospital, visit Traveline for all information on transport services to Morriston Hospital.

Nevill Hall Hospital

Car parking at Nevill Hall Hospital is free, however, the hospital has made clear to all staff and visitors that there is currently a lack of car parking capacity, and spaces get filled very quickly. For buses that stop directly outside the hospital, times are provided here.

Prince Charles Hospital

There are parking facilities at Prince Charles hospital, however, like Morriston Hospital in Swansea, the spaces available are limited. Because of this, the hospital recommends staff be dropped to work or use the public transport available. If driving into work is the only option, the hospital suggests arriving at least an hour early to secure a space.

Princess of Wales Hospital

The Princess of Wales Community Hospital has a pay on exit system, with 279 spaces for staff and visitors. Parking availability is varied and therefore staff should arrive early to secure space. The bus services within Bridgend that stop at the hospital are the 172, 63, 65, 74, and X1. The closest train station to the hospital is Bridgend station, which is located in between Port Talbot and Cardiff Central.

When visiting the hospitals above or any other hospital in Wales, make sure you visit the Welsh hospital directory, this way you can be prepared for your journey.
