Congratulations Sue! Our Nurse of the Month for February

Sue was chosen to be Thornbury’s February Nurse of the Month due to her dedication and hard work inspiring the team and the hospitals she works in, leading to exceptional patient care.

We caught up with Sue on her win. Read what she had to say below.

How long have you been working with Thornbury Nursing?

“I have been working for Thornbury for over 12 years. I’ve had many experiences and met wonderful people.”

“I have always wanted to do nursing, and I’ve not regretted a minute of it. Life sometimes has ups and downs, but you are never more vulnerable than when you are unwell. I always try to give what I can and some, regardless of the clinical or home setting I find myself in. It is a pleasure and privilege to be able to try and help make a difference, sometimes in small ways gone unseen. Like many of my colleagues, this is often. So I am very grateful as the little things have indeed not gone unnoticed.

Nursing is a part of who I am, but on that note, I worked in various settings before joining Thornbury. My weeks are never the same and I am constantly updating myself and learning.

I very much like working for Thornbury and have been doing so for some time now.”

What attracted you to join Thornbury Nursing?

“I love the varied work that it offers and the chance to work with fantastic people. I have also got to know the people on the other end of the phone, and I thank them for their dedication and professional, caring attitude.

Working with Thornbury has allowed me to explore my more creative side because I can better balance work and downtime. I attend many conferences in my own time because I am interested in many aspects of health and care. I also have time for my other interests, such as playing the piano, walking, growing my own vegetables at home and trying to live life with a reduced footprint. I believe this makes me a better person, more caring and patient. I strive for this and hope I will never stop striving.”

How do you feel about being Nurse of the Month?

“I have been very much taken aback and honoured to receive this, as I have had the privilege to work with many worthy of this award. Thank you very much for honouring me in this way. It has given me a boost.”

Congratulations, Sue, you deserve it!
