Pay rates with Thornbury Nursing

We pride ourselves on paying exceptional nursing agency pay rates

Working as a nurse requires a high level of skill and our outstanding pay rates reflect this. Nursing pay rates are dependent on location, specialism and experience and we calculate our pay rates based on grades. We have provided information around hourly rates and sick pay for each specialism we recruit for, including A&E nurses, midwives and theatre nurses. If you’re a nurse looking for agency work in England or Wales, take a look at our latest pay rates below:

Why changes to IR35 rules don’t affect our nurses

At Thornbury Nursing we only operate a Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) payroll which means that we always pay our nurses directly, and tax income at source. As a result, the changes in April 2017 to IR35 rules on Personal Services Companies (PSCs), do not affect our nurses.

IR35 changes have resulted in recruitment agencies (which accept PSCs) having to deduct tax and National Insurance from nurses, who are working via a PSC in the Public Sector. This means there is no advantage to working through a PSC versus PAYE. Remember, there are additional costs associated with running a PSC (PAYE is free), so this way of working could be more costly.

It’s also worth mentioning that we don’t offer our nurses an Umbrella scheme either as these are essentially PAYE schemes that you pay for. You can read more about PAYE Vs Umbrella payment options here.

We strongly believe that we offer the best all-round package, and most importantly, unlike other agencies, we have always paid mileage in full back to our nurses.

Pension scheme

Under the Pensions Act 2008, every employer in the UK must enroll staff into a pension scheme and contribute towards it.

At Thornbury Nursing, you will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension scheme 3 months after your first payment from us.

You will automatically contribute 5% and Thornbury will contribute 3% for the current tax year.
