Clinical office roles – Myth Busters

Clinical Office Role FAQs

With a range of clinical roles available, thinking about making the move to an office-based opportunity will naturally come with a number of questions. Here are a few that we’re regularly asked:

“I have never had an office job, is it hard to make the switch?”

Like any new job, it’s never easy to be the new person but we will give you plenty of advice and training to get you up and running. You will initially have an induction period where we support you with the tools and information that you need to be successful in your new role.

Don’t worry – it doesn’t stop there. With a team of people from a range of backgrounds, there is always someone to offer guidance on anything that comes up.

‘’Would I lose my clinical skills?’’

As part of any role here, you will draw on your professional experience and use your clinical judgement skills daily to support decision-making and support your colleagues to upskill. Each role is diverse and can be fast-paced, full of opportunities to develop yourself and others.

There is a real focus on developing and investing in our teams through training and development, so you will have the chance to continue your learning.

“Is there a lot of other people from a clinical background in the office?”

We have people from clinical backgrounds that cover most areas of expertise from mental health, learning disabilities, paediatrics, ITU plus many more – you may have even crossed paths before in a clinical environment! You will get plenty of support from your colleagues, if you are unsure on anything there is always someone to reach out to.

“Can I still revalidate if I work in an office-based role?”

Absolutely! Given the range of roles we have that require someone to have clinical experience, we support you with revalidating your pin. Our clinical roles will give you more than enough evidence to support your revalidation given that you are using your clinical knowledge to make decisions on a daily basis.

We even have our own online nursing forum available to colleagues new or longer term, alongside a range of learning and development courses where we encourage everyone to keep up to date with any changes. We also reimburse nurses’ annual NMC subscriptions every year.

“What career progression would be available to me?”

There is no glass ceiling here, if you want to progress and develop there is plenty of support and training to help you develop and progress your career. You may want to continue with your professional development in a clinical role or have a complete change into marketing or finance. Our own COO started her career in nursing and has become a key member of our senior team.

“I’m looking for a better work-life balance”

Fantastic, we have a range of clinical roles available here from full-time, part-time, days, nights even those longed-for Monday to Friday positions. We do not want our team to suffer from burnout or stress, so we actively promote a work-life balance and are sure to have the right role for you.

“What benefits are available to me?”

Our benefits list is constantly growing and there is always something new on the horizon. With everything from a great pension scheme, options to buy or sell holiday allowance, instant discounts on shopping and paid annual NMC fees. Our dedicated benefits platform has something for everyone.
