Emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs)

We need emergency nurse practitioners (ENPs) for temporary, last minute placements across England and Wales. Thornbury ENPs can access work in a variety of settings such as minor injury units (standalone or ED), walk-in centres, urgent care centres, primary care centres and GP out of hours. You’ll need to work to our high standards and in return you’ll receive full professional support from us.

Requirements

  • A valid NMC Pin
  • A willingness to work to our company expectations
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the last 2.5 years practicing as an ENP in an urgent care setting (minor injuries, urgent care or walk-in centres)
  • Evidence of a university accredited course at Level 3 (diploma) or above in clinical reasoning and clinical examination
  • The ability to independently undertake comprehensive consultations for emergency and urgent, undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions, as the first point of contact to treat, refer and formulate a discharge plan
  • Evidenced completion of V300 prescribing course is desirable

What does an ENP do?

ENPs in the UK are tasked with evaluating, diagnosing, providing treatment, and releasing patients. Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Thorough patient evaluations, including the assessment and management of pain.
  • Identifying conditions such as sprains, strains, lacerations, and animal bites, administering medication (either orally or through injections), and managing minor injuries like burns and wounds
  • Interpreting and evaluating x-ray results
  • Administering specific medications, which may include antibiotics
  • Documenting findings from ECG examinations
  • Discharging patients when deemed appropriate
