How long have you been working with Thornbury Nursing?

I have been working with Thornbury since March 2023.

What attracted you to join Thornbury Nursing?

I work full-time as an NHS employee but I heard a lot of great things about working agency shifts with Thornbury, including great benefits. Despite my hesitation to work with agencies (Thornbury was my first agency), I gave it a try. The joining process was easy and I completed the registration very quickly. Initially, I was determined to just do one shift to see what it was like. I worked my very first agency shift on Mother’s Day. The team I worked with were so stretched and thankful for my presence. I realised that I have free time on my hands which could be spent helping clients like these.

Also, the pay rates are attractive and I am able to pick shifts up around the country without hesitation as they also pay for travel expenses.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoy nursing as a whole and Thornbury allows me to be just that – a nurse helping individuals and families in their day-to-day routine, and I can give all my attention to my patients when I’m on shift. It may sound cliche, but nursing is what I always imagined myself doing as a younger child.

How do you feel about being Nurse of the Month?

I didn’t realise there was such a thing as ‘Nurse of the Month’ with Thornbury – what a pleasant surprise! I knew of other benefits, but this really was unexpected. I feel appreciated. Thank you to the team for thinking of me. I work hard and have always been accommodating to my patients and my team, and it feels great to be appreciated.
